Privacy and Cookies Policy

I am committed to respecting your right to privacy and control over how your information is collected, used, accessed and deleted. This new privacy policy is part of My site-wide  compliance with European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This document outlines the types of personal information I receive and collect when you use www.jamesie.life, as well as the steps I take to safeguard that information. I hope this will help you make an informed decision about sharing personal information with me and how you can access and control it.

www.jamesie.life strives to maintain the highest standards of decency, fairness and integrity in all My operations. Likewise, I are dedicated to protecting My customers’, consumers’ and online visitors’ privacy on My website.

Personal Information

www.jamesie.life collects personally identifiable information from the visitors to My website only on a voluntary, ‘opt-in’ basis. Personal information collected on a voluntary basis may include name and email address.

This information is collected only if you request information from Me, participate in a contest, sign up to join My email list or request some other service or information from Me. The information collected is internally reviewed, used to improve the content of My website, notify My visitors of updates, and respond to visitor inquiries.

Once information is reviewed, it is discarded or stored in My files if it is part of ongoing correspondence. If I make material changes in the collection of personally identifiable information I will inform you by placing a notice on My site. Personal information received from any visitor will be used only for internal purposes and will not be sold or provided to third parties.

Use of Cookies and Web Beacons

I may use cookies to help you personalize your online experience. Cookies are identifiers that are transferred to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser to enable My systems to recognize your browser. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalise the sites pages, or register with any of My site’s services, a cookie enables www.jamesie.life to recall your specific information on subsequent visits.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying your Web browser; however, if you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the site.

A web beacon is a transparent image file used to monitor your journey around a single website or collection of sites. They are also referred to as web bugs and are commonly used by sites that hire third-party services to monitor traffic. They may be used in association with cookies to understand how visitors interact with the pages and content on the pages of a web site.

Browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. Privacy software can be used to override web beacons. Taking either of these actions shouldn’t cause a problem with My site, should you so choose.

WordPress

This website is powered by WordPress.org which has been updated to latest version compliant with GDPR. Since the release of version 4.9.6 the WordPress core software is GDPR compliant.

WordPress Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on My site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on My website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to Me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Contact Forms

When you contact me on www.jamesie.life, you are using the WPforms Lite plugin which is also fully GDPR compliant. Each contact requires a specific confirmation that you are happy with this privacy policy and are willing to share your name, e-mail address and message to complete My correspondence. Form data is sent directly to My www.jamesie.life email account from which I will reply. Messages and My replies are held securely in My systems, will be reviewed periodically with redundant threads, associated data and personal information deleted as necessary.

Details submitted in contact forms will only be used for correspondence relating to your message. They will never be automatically added on to e-mail lists or shared with third parties without specific discussion and consent.

E-mail List Subscription

I provide e-mail updates to visitors who prefer to stay up-to-date with changes and additions to the website by e-mail. There is an e-mail subscription opt-in form in the footer which allows you to sign up to blog post updates and new content which will be sent to the e-mail address you provide. Once again there is a specific opt-in at the subscription form as well as a reference link to this privacy policy.

I manage My e-mail list and e-mail updates through ‘Email Subscribers’ WordPress Plugin by Icegram. User data is stored securely within My WordPress account. Each e-mail you receive through this service contains links to this privacy policy.

Social Media

This website also uses social media buttons including Facebook, Twitter, Google +, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram which allows convenient interaction with these social media networks. www.jamesie.life does not collect or store personal information or data associated with these buttons but cookies may be used by these buttons/sites to allow the features to function correctly.

These buttons are displayed on www.jamesie.life by ‘Social Media and Share Icons’ by Ultimately Social.

Clicking on the buttons will take you to the social website where your use of their site will be covered by their privacy and data protection policies.

Third Parties

In order to operate this website I use numerous third party interfaces to do things like analyse usage, share content and monetise. Some of these third parties use your data anonymously or otherwise to deliver their services. Services I use may include the following:

Google Analytics

www.jamesie.life utilises Google Analytics to analyse anonymous data about visitor behaviour so that I can identify how the site is being used, what is popular and what is not, so that I can continually improve this site for all My visitors.

Google Analytics works by means of tracking code that is added to the pages of a website. Every user is registered with a unique ID, so that Google Analytics can provide website administrators with insight into how many unique visitors there are to the site and their behaviour.

You can find more information about the personal data Google Analytics collects on their Privacy Policy and on their Google Ads Data Protection Terms: Service Information

By clicking ‘accept’ on the GDPR compliance cookie notice at the footer of this website you consent to and accept My use of Google Analytics on www.jamesie.life.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

This website is directed to adults; it is not directed to children under the age of 16. I operate My site in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and will not knowingly collect or use personal information from anyone under 16 years of age. My contact forms contain a 16+ age declaration checkbox before submission.

Non-Personal Information

In some cases, I may collect information about you that is not personally identifiable. I use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about My user base as a whole. The information collected is used solely for internal review and not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Release of Information

If www.jamesie.life is sold, the information I have obtained from you through your voluntary participation in My site may transfer to the new owner as a part of the sale in order that the service being provided to you may continue. In that event, you will receive notice through My website of that change in control and practices, and I will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the purchaser honors any opt-out requests you might make of Me.

How You Can Correct or Remove Information

I provide this privacy policy as a statement to you of My commitment to protect your personal information and of My GDPR compliance. If you have submitted personal information through My website and would like that information deleted from My records, get access to details I hold or would like to update or correct that information, please let me know using the form on my Contact page.

Updates and Effective Date

European Union Data Protection Regulation came into effect on 25th May 2018.

www.jamesie.life reserves the right to make changes in this policy. If there is a material change in My privacy practices, I will indicate on My site that My privacy practices have changed and provide a link to the new privacy policy. I encourage you to periodically review this policy so that you will know what information I collect and how I use it.

Agreeing to Terms

If you do not agree to www.jamesie.life privacy policy as posted here on this website, please do not use this site or any services offered by this site. In addition to your specific opt-in use of aspects of the site and ‘acceptance’ of My GDPR compliance notice, your continued use of this site indicates acceptance of this privacy policy.
